Environment Protection

CERC’s Environment Division restricts its focus to essential areas of public safety with regard to industrial and environmental hazards, and not all issues of environment protection.

Its initial priorities are hazardous products and processes, transportation and warehousing, disposal of toxic wastes, citizens right to information and visit to the plant, emergency preparedness and compensation for loss or injury suffered by individuals or community on account of such hazards. The Environment Division organises conferences, conducts research, disseminates the findings, proceedings, recommendations, etc., makes representation to the authorities. The Ministry of Environment, Government of India, has a Steering Committee for policy decisions related to the environment. CERC is represented on the steering committee by Prof Manubhai Shah.
