The consumer organisations of Gujarat will felicitate the former
President of the Gujarat State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission
(CDRC), Mr. Justice (retired) M.S. Parikh, at a public function at
the Ellisbridge Gymkhana near Law Gardens, Ahmedabad, on Monday 20
February at 5.30 p.m.
The Gujarat State Federation of Consumer Organisations (GUSFECO)
will host the function, which will be presided over by Dr. S. K. Nanda
(IAS), Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs,
Government of Gujarat. Mr. K. H. Kazi, president of the Consumer Protection
Council, Gujarat, Ms Ramaben Mawani, president of the District Consumer
Protection Association (Rajkot) and former MP, and Ms Ushaben Sanghvi,
President, GUSFECO, besides Prof. Manubhai Shah, Chairman Emeritus,
Consumer Education Research Centre (CERC), Ahmedabad, will be among
the other speakers.
Mr. Justice (retired) M.S. Parikh, who will attend the function as
the chief guest, has to his credit an eventful span of over four decades
in the legal profession. After retiring as permanent Judge of the
Gujarat High Court, he assumed the responsibility of president of
the Gujarat Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (CDRC) in 2000.
During his tenure, Mr. Justice Parikh tried several notable civil
as well as criminal cases, besides delivering a number of landmark
judgements as the president of CDRC, Gujarat.
