Residential, commercial and industrial consumers of Torrent Power
Limited as well as of Uttar/Dakshin/Madhya and Paschim Gujarat Vij
Co. Ltd. are likely to get refund of the amount paid at the time of
reconnection. Consumers against whom no cases have been filed in special
courts are also likely to get such refund.
Consumers, who have been accused of the theft of electricity, threatened
with the lodging of FIRs (first information report) against them,
and compelled to pay a huge amount for the reconnection of power,
are requested to contact Consumer Education and Research Society (CERS),
Suraksha Sankool, Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, Thaltej, Ahmedabad
- 380054.
The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has sought details
of such consumers, who have been penalised under Section 154(5) of
the Electricity Act 2003 and have paid as penalty an amount equivalent
to the consumption charges for 12 months, are requested to contact
CERS before 15 November 2006 to fill in the prescribed forms.
The consumers should approach CERS with all relevant documents and
receipts for the amounts paid for reconnection and subsequent instalments
for further necessary action.
